Fabric Awning Cleaning

Fabric awnings come in various styles such as polyester fabric coated with acrylic, cotton-polyester blended with acrylic coating, or 100% acrylic fabrics. Vinyl coated fabric awnings are also an option. Awnings made of these materials need to be cleaned with a strong cleaning solution that is softly brushed in. This prevents the fabric from stretching and scratching, which happens with heavy scrubbing using hard bristles. After dislodging the dirt and killing any organics, a gentle pressure rinse is used to thoroughly wash the awnings. High pressure damages the awning coatings and may also cause the awning to tear.

Metal Awning Cleaning

Metal awnings, such as those made from aluminum and steel, are widely seen on house built in the 1950s to the 1970s.. Due to their non-porous slick surface, metal awnings are cleaned with a low strength, soapy softwash application followed by a gentle pressure rinse. This method keeps any oxidation untouched and prevents the potential damage caused from high pressure cleaning. Many times, even after a thorough cleaning, the awning needs to be painted to achieve it's original look due to years of wear and tear. These disclaimers are always presented to clients ahead of time.
